In an unprecedented move which is perhaps a first in the pre-need industry, Danvil Plans, Inc. (formerly Berkley) has implemented the 24-hour free look for its products, with no questions asked.
New customers purchasing Danvil’s educational plans now have more time to scrutinize the product and its features and determine its suitability to their family’s needs and situation.
Since the company implemented the program in June of this year, it has cancelled a total of more than six hundred plans bought, equivalent to more than six thousand units and totaling more than six million pesos worth of initial premiums lost.
Asked if such a move will not prove detrimental to the bottom line of the company, Danvil Assistant Vice-President Ms. Aurora Dino stressed that customer satisfaction is given prime importance. “Especially under the new ownership, the clear mandate is to create only goodwill and prove our sincerity in serving our customers. If the client, for one reason or another, determines that our product is not, after all, what he needs at this time, then he can return it until one day after date of purchase and be entitled to a refund from us,” Ms. Dino explained.
Many first-time buyers in the pre-need industry admit to not fully understanding the nitty-gritty of the product that they bought, especially the so-called fine print of the contracts that they sign. The 24-hour free look, according to Danvil Plans, will address this problem and give clients sufficient time to review their commitment and back out if they so want within the allowed period.
Danvil Holdings, Inc. acquired all of Berkley International Philippines, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including marketing pioneer Family First, in a management buy-out last March. Former Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Daniel L. Villanueva, is the new owner and president of the company.
