William Robert Berkley, Jr., President of Berkley International LLC, recently visited the Philippines to touch base with local officials of Berkley International Philippines, Inc.
Berkley's visit underscores the importance that Berkley LLC puts in its operations in the Philippines which is now serving as its regional hub in Asia. Berkley International LLC is a strategic joint venture between W. R. Berkley Corporation and The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company of the United States. Berkley International was established in 1995 to acquire significant interests in insurance, insurance-related and financial services businesses in emerging countries. Its Philippine operations were established in 1997 and have since flourished to catapult BIP to its position now as #2 in the educational plan sector and #4 overall in the pre-need industry in terms of new business.
While here, Berkley reiterated his company's support for both BIP and FFI. He cited the many opportunities in the country that have yet to be tapped and expressed his faith in the local team's capacity to further steer the company towards market leadership.
The
prospects for the future are good. We see an improved revenue
trend as well as strengthened return on equity because of
the company's increased funds. Further, the distribution
arm, FFI, has already achieved economies of scale, providing
for possibly the most cost-effective distribution channel
for financial service products in the country today,"
