The Department
of Education (DepEd) gave Berkley/Family First, Inc. a token sculpture in recognition
ceremonies held recently to honor the department’s partner institutions
in its Adopt-a-School Program. Berkley/Family First was cited for its “unwavering
support and immediate response to the government’s call for partnership
to improve the quality of Science and Technology in public schools.” The
ceramic token, a masterpiece by renowned artist, Lanelle Abueva Fernando, is
a replica of the old Rizal National High School, the restoration of which was
made possible through the aforementioned program of the DepEd. Berkley/Family
Fitst has been supporting DepEd’s Adopt-a-School Program through the company’s
flagship project, E.D.U.C.A.T.I.O.N. or Enlightenment and Direction Using Computers
And Tutorials for an Innovative natION. To date, the company has given away
forty (40) computers to four needy and highly- populated public high schools
in Quezon City and Las Piñas. Photo shows Berkley/Family First President
Alan Michael Rafe (right) being presented with the memento by Education Undersecretary
Fe Hidalgo.
