The Business Software Alliance (BSA), an organization dedicated to promoting a safe and legal digital world, recently awarded Berkley International Philippines and all its subsidiaries, namely, Life, Plans and Family First, Inc. the Software Asset Management (SAM) Advantage Certification. This is in recognition of the company's efforts to implement a model SAM practice.
In compliance with BSA's guidelines to multinationals and local companies, the company's Information Services Division (ISD) performed a rigid and thorough auditing of its software to maximize their value and to better utilize existing investments. In performing SAM, the company addressed planning and budgeting matters for software purchases and ensured that the company uses genuine software only.
According to Berkley's Vice President-Chief Information Officer, Ms. Adnelle Valeza, undergoing SAM is in keeping with the company's avowed mission of integrity. “Piracy brings with it a chain of negative results not only for any industry where it is practiced but to the national economy as a whole. We do not want to be a party to it that is why we ensure that our offices use only genuine software,” Valeza said.
