Berkley International Philippines, Inc., established and incorporated in November 1997 its subsidiary Berkley International Plans, Inc., to develop a significant market presence in the Philippines through its offering of pre-need plan products. It has risen fast to become among the Top 5 in the educational plan sector of the pre-need industry.

In its almost ten years of existence, Berkley International Plans, Inc., has consistently achieved profitability in its operations. This success may primarily be attributed to a unique marketing approach that "brings the people to the product” instead of the other way around.

In March 2007, the entire holdings of Berkley International Philippines, Inc., which include its three subsidiaries --- Berkley International Plans, Inc., Berkley International Life Insurance Company, Inc. and Family First, Inc. --- were acquired in a management buyout by its former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Daniel L. Villanueva.

At the time of sale, Berkley International Plans, Inc., now Danvil Plans Inc. had 60,000 active policies and trust fund assets of P3.8 billion, with policyholder liability of P3.2 billion with the assigned trustee banks pursuant to Securities and Exchange Commission regulations. Its trustee banks are Deutsche Bank AG, ING Bank N.V., Equitable-PCI Bank, Metrobank and Union Bank.

Mr. Villanueva, who is now owner and President, stressed that the company is one of the soundest reserved pre-need companies in the Philippines. “My leadership will continue the prudent management of funds that has been the trademark of this company and which is behind our solid financial standing in the past nine (9) years. Side by side with this prudence, however, I shall continue to explore new avenues of growth for this dynamic and trend-setting pre-need firm.”

Aside from blazing new trails in the industry by way of its marketing strategy, Danvil Plans Inc. does not advertise heavily but instead channels a huge chunk of its advertising budget to guaranteed gifts and huge prizes like cars and houses and lots given directly to clients who avail of its mall promotions.
